Abstract

Peter Weiss's Song of the Lusitanian Bogeyman which was premiered on January 26th, 1967, at the Scala-Teatern in Stockholm, has been represented more than 50 times worldwide, as an example of a dramaturgy of exile and resistance anti-colonialism and antifascism. This article analyzes some reenactments that occurred in Portugal in the pre- and post-revolutionary period, respectively 1971 and 1974 and, more recently, in 2017.
