Supernatural Women in the Brazilian Nobiliary – the Dama Pé de Cabra e a Dona Marinha

Abstract

Let's comment on some brief narratives that appear in Conde D. Pedro's Livro de Linhagens and that take us to supernatural figures that would be at the origin of certain noble families. We will see how they are linked to a common Western imaginary that takes us back from the Portuguese far west, through the Hispanic world and France, to distant Brittany and its “matter”.
