Models: between theory and adequation

Abstract

The notion of model, like that of symbol, is generic enough: "from a naked blonde to a quadratic equation" (N. Goodman). We will see that there is a proliferation of meanings of the term model, not as original but as abstract and hypothetical construct that proliferate both in the exact sciences and in the human sciences.
