The Editorial Coordination of the Journal of Communication and Languages/ Revista de Comunicação e Linguagens/ Journal of Communication and Languages  (ISSN: 2183-7198), scientific publication of the Instituto de Comunicação da NOVA da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, invites the academic community, namely curators, artists, photographers, collectors, researchers, and university students with a particular interest in issues relating to contemporary culture, the arts and technologies, mediation processes, and languages, to submit proposals for thematic issues to be published between 2027 and 2029.

Deadline: 2026, June 30.

1. Submission of proposals
The proposal for thematic issues should include the following elements:

1.1. Full name, academic degree, institutional affiliation, email, ORCID, and a short curriculum summary (maximum 600 characters) of all editors;
1.2. Description and contextualisation of the proposal:
• tíitle (English and Portuguese);
• abstract and "resumo" (until 600 caratheres);
• objectives and intended approaches;
•  justification of relevance;
• relevant bibliographic references on the topic (no more than 10);
• list of subtopics to be developed.

 

Proposals should be submitted in .doc or .docx format to the email address icnovaeditorial@fcsh.unl.pt (Subject: RCL Issue Proposal) by 11:59 pm on 30 June 2026.

2. Evaluation of proposals

2.1.The proposals received will be assessed by the Editorial Board of Comunicação e Linguagens, taking into account the following criteria:
• originality, particularly in relation to previously published issues of RCL;
• relevance and currency;
• clarity and coherence;
• scope of the theme, allowing for the inclusion of national and international diversity of contributions.

2.2. Proposals that do not meet the criteria outlined above will be excluded.
2.3. The journal’s Editorial Board will be responsible for the evaluation of the thematic issues and for announcing the results by 15 September 2026.
