The years close to the Orpheu project and its aesthetic and literary concept were a very creative time for Fernando Pessoa. If the poems written then – “Opiário”, “Ode Triunfal”, “Ode Marítima”, “Chuva Oblíqua”, “Gládio”, “Além-deus” – are among the most important in all his work, we do not know enough about his fictional writings. It is the objective of this article to make an analysis of the way the conceptual scenery of Orpheu’s poetry reflects itself in the fictions of same epoch, by focusing the analysis on four of them: “A Estrada do Esquecimento”, “A Trincheira”, “Uma Carta da Argentina” and “A Perda do Hiate Nada”. With a static character connected with the concept “Teatro Estático” that marked the play “O Marinheiro”, these tales fictionalize the transposition of the senses, depersonalization, the dilution of the individual’s personality into the collective and the interval between realities, all questions that belong not only to the Orpheu times, but to the work of Fernando Pessoa in general.
