This article aims to discuss the Triumphal Day by analyzing some aspects of the “Letter about the genesis of the heteronyms”, title vastly associated to the text sent by Fernando Pessoa to Adolfo Casais Monteiro on January 13, 1935. At first, this article elaborates a brief historical overview of the reception of the missive by some critics, such as Jacinto do Prado Coelho, Ildefonso-Manuel Gil and Eduardo Lourenço; and subsequently, issues relating to epistolary discourse, memory and process of creation are explored as constant references during the analysis of the text.
